Sharjah24: The Health Education Department at the Supreme Council for Family Affairs in Sharjah, in collaboration with UNICEF and Sajaya Young Ladies of Sharjah, has launched the activities of the Sahbati 2024 program. The program aims to prepare health ambassadors by imparting the fundamentals of public health to adolescents, who will then transfer this knowledge to their families. The program is based on the principle of "peer education," a global teaching approach that involves direct and sequential knowledge transfer among peers, enhancing communication and thinking skills and maximizing the impact of information within their environment.
The program, targeting members of Sajaya Young Ladies of Sharjah aged 16 to 18, spans a full week and includes the organization of six theoretical and practical training workshops. These workshops cover awareness of nutrition principles and food preservation methods to ensure their safety. They also focus on understanding the basics of physical activity, its importance, and the application of exercises in collaboration with "Concept Fitness & Wellbeing Studio." Additionally, the program offers a practical cooking session promoting healthy and sustainable cooking methods in collaboration with the International Chef Center. The program will conclude with a special session featuring experts from UNICEF and Ghaya Sa'eed Al-Ahbabi, UNICEF Youth Ambassador, during the COP28 conference to discuss important health topics relevant to the youth.

Her Excellency Eman Rashid Saif, Director of the Health Education Department at the Supreme Council for Family Affairs in Sharjah, emphasized that the launch of the Sahbati program this year carries a special significance due to the diversity of the workshops offered. The department worked collaboratively with organizations to develop a well-thought-out plan, recognizing the importance of activating health and community partnerships to establish a series of workshops designed by a select group of specialists. The aim is to equip the participants from the youth community with the opportunity for active participation in realizing Sharjah's vision of becoming a healthy, child-friendly city, free from diseases. This initiative aligns with the visions and directives of Her Highness Sheikha Jawaher bint Mohammed Al Qasimi, Chairperson of the Supreme Council for Family Affairs.

She further highlighted that the Sahbati program falls within the department's commitment to enhancing health-related concepts among adolescents and developing their cognitive skills. The program represents an investment in the future by promoting their communication, interpersonal, and self-training skills, and preparing them to disseminate a health culture among individuals. It also aims to inspire them to become role models for their peers within their homes, schools, and communities."
