Al Raisi unveiled the plan during a press conference held on Tuesday, jointly organised by SPCFZA and Gulftainer, which also touched on the latest projects and initiatives supporting international trade and strengthening supply chain efficiency.
Al Raisi said the conference set out an ambitious roadmap for developing logistics operations at Khor Fakkan Port, with the five million TEU target to be reached by introducing new maritime shipping lines.
He pointed to the port's strategic position linking East and West as a key advantage, alongside a depth exceeding 17 metres that allows it to receive some of the largest container vessels operating anywhere in the world.
Speaking to Sharjah 24, Al Raisi said the conference also covered the authority's experience developing logistics complexes in the Al Sajaa and Al Dhaid areas, which together offer a capacity exceeding 2.3 million containers.
Discussions extended to performance indicators for the logistics corridors connecting Sharjah with the UAE's other emirates and neighbouring countries in the region, work that Al Raisi said feeds directly into stronger supply chain efficiency.
Al Raisi framed the developments as part of the UAE's broader push to cement its position as a global logistics hub, with Khor Fakkan's expansion and the wider network of inland facilities positioned to support that goal in the years ahead.
