Sharjah 24: The Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry held its first meeting of the eighteenth session at its headquarters, presided by Abdullah Sultan Al Owais, Chairman of the SCCI, and attended by Waleed Bukhatir, Second Vice Chairman, and Mohammed Al Awadhi, Director General of the SCCI.

The Council expressed its deepest gratitude to His Highness Sheikh Dr Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, and His Highness Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Crown Prince, Deputy Ruler of Sharjah and Chairman of the Sharjah Executive Council, in appreciation of the confidence placed in the formation of the new board.

The strategic files for the next phase were at the top of the meeting's agenda. The council approved the guidelines for creating specialized committees in investment, trade, and industry. These committees will help support the competitiveness of the private sector.

The board also looked over the progress of infrastructure projects for industrial and commercial areas, along with food security projects. They talked about how to make licensing procedures simpler by working with government partners. Additionally, they discussed plans to launch a series of exhibitions and promotional efforts during the second half of this year.

SCCI Data for the H1 of 2026

Regarding indicators and performance, the Chamber's data for the first half of this year showed positive figures. There were 3,139 new memberships registered, 31,788 memberships renewed, about 35,000 certificates of origin issued, and 1,110 attestation transactions completed. The Board also reviewed the Chamber's success in carrying out over 90 practical recommendations that helped improve the business environment and develop the legislative framework.

Abdullah Al Owais affirmed the Board's commitment to redoubling efforts to maintain the Chamber's leading role as a key partner in development, to leverage government partnerships to find innovative solutions to economic challenges, and to protect the interests of the private sector.
