Sharjah 24: His Excellency Brigadier General Abdullah Mubarak bin Amer, Deputy Commander-in-Chief of Sharjah Police, witnessed, on Thursday, a sports day at the Police Desert Park coinciding with the activities of the ninth edition of National Sports Day in the United Arab Emirates.
The event included many sports activities and competitions for government employees and members of society of various categories, in cooperation with the Sharjah Youth Council of the Ministry of Community Development, the Sharjah Social Services Department, the Rubu’ Qarn Foundation, the Sharjah Sports Council, the Sharjah Government Employees Club, and the Sharjah City for Humanitarian Services.
Brigadier General Ahmed Haji Al Sarkal, Director General of Police Operations, Brigadier General Dr. Ahmed Al Naour,Director General of Central Operations, Brigadier General Dr. Mohammed Khamis Al Othmani, Director General of the Police Science Academyin Sharjah, and Brigadier General Ibrahim Al Ajel, Deputy Director General of Police Operations, participated in the sports day, along with wide participation from members of the Sharjah Police, government entities in Sharjah, and community members.
Brigadier General Abdullah Mubarak bin Amer stressed the importance of participating in national events organised by the countiry in various fields, pointing out that National Sports Day is one of the most important sporting events organised by the National Olympic Committee in Dubai every year with the support of the wise leadership, which has had an impact in enhancing the health of members of society. It also contributed significantly to the development of sports performance and the discovery of latent sports talents in institutions, supporting the UAE’s development process in the sports field.
Brigadier General Bin Amer added that the National Sports Day integrated the societal nature with the sporting one, and achieved its societal goals by spreading sports culture among employees of government institutions and eitines and members of society of various cultures and nationalities in one day.
The sports day included a 20-km bicycle race, a 3-kilometre and 200-metre walking march, and a package of sporting events, such as volleyball, tug of war, and cultural competitions that varied between mental and sports for children, the elderly, and people with disabilities. In addition to organising a youth seminar moderated by Colonel Tariq Al Midfa, Director of the Strategy and Performance Development Department at Sharjah Police. The discussion seminar received wide participation from youth participants and visitors to the park.
