The projects seek to help in the digital transformation strategy and rely on artificial intelligence in accordance with the Emirate of Sharjah's objectives and directions, therefore upgrading the numerous services that serve an important segment of the community.
The municipality sparked its participation in the UAE Innovation Month at its main building in the Musalla area, in the presence of Dr. Sulaiman Abdallah bin Sarhan Al Zaabi, Chairman of the Municipal Affairs Department; Obaid Saeed Al Tenaiji, Director-General of the Municipality; Dr Abdullah bin Hamouda Al Ketbi, Deputy Chairman of the Municipal Council; and managers, council members, and employees.
Al Tenaiji emphasised that the municipality's annual participation in the UAE Innovation Month reflects its desire to develop its services in line with the Emirate's qualitative leap in all fields, as well as the importance of encouraging employees to present distinguished ideas that can be developed and transformed into real-world projects.
He said that the municipality encourages people to innovate in many aspects of their jobs and improves the government's innovation system. The Innovation Team, which is responsible for generating and implementing ideas into creative ventures, has been founded.
Reem Abdullah Al Rossi, Director of the Human Resources Department and Head of the Innovation Team at Sharjah Municipality, revealed that the municipality started the "Smart Path" project as one of its creative initiatives. It is an innovative programme that helps to design and automate inspection operations in public parking management as well as monitor the usage of inspection vehicles by department users.
Al Rossi went on to say that the municipality presented the Global Inspection Device, the first of its type in the UAE, which was conceived and built to meet the specifications necessary for inspection by the Central Laboratories Management in collaboration with a manufacturing business in the United States. It is used to check plastic materials used in building and infrastructure projects, such as heat insulation and floor coatings.
Among the initiatives is the Smart Lens system, a new, unique technology created by Sharjah City Municipality experts employing an advanced optical language model. It allows neighbourhood members to easily send audio and video complaints and observations to the municipality using the WhatsApp application.
According to Al Rossi, the municipality has helped to improve the abilities of school pupils and youngsters by arranging unique workshops and providing the required materials, equipment, and staff to introduce the municipality's identity during the "Our Identity" workshop. In addition, courses such as Innovative Engineer, Innovative Farmer, and Innovative Inspector highlight the municipality's duties. These programmes seek to improve students' abilities, broaden their experiences, and introduce them to the Sharjah City Municipality.
