Sharjah dominance on the water
Delivering a remarkable performance, the Sharjah team reinforced its status as a leading contender for this season’s world title. The victory reflects the team’s technical excellence and strong organisation, while underlining Sharjah’s and the UAE’s prominent role in global water sports.
Boat number 17, driven by star racer Rusty Wyatt, dominated the main race to take a deserved win, repeating his success of last year. The Victory Team’s boat number 3, piloted by Alec Wikstrom, finished second, while Britain’s Ben Jelf in boat number 9 claimed third place. Sharjah’s second boat, number 18, driven by Stefan Arand, secured fourth, highlighting the team’s overall superiority.
Mixed fortunes for Abu Dhabi team
On the Abu Dhabi side, boat number 5, driven by Mansour Al Mansoori, finished 12th, while boat number 6, with Erik Stark at the helm, was forced to withdraw following an early collision with France’s Peter Morin.
Wyatt leads championship standings
With this double success, Wyatt now tops the overall championship standings with 29 points, having combined victory in the main race with second place in the sprint race held the previous day. The result places the Sharjah team firmly at the top from the very start of the season.
