Sharjah 24: Dr. Omar Abdulaziz, the Sharjah's Arab Cultural Club (ACC) Chairman of the Board of Directors, attended Syrian artist Reem Kubtan's exhibition titled "At the mercy of love," hosted by the club.
There were twenty-eight pieces in the show that combined visual art with calligraphy; the pieces used Persian and Kufi calligraphy in various hues.

Artist Reem Kubtan hails from Damascus, Syria. She attended art institutions and colleges there, where he learned Arabic calligraphy and "Nas- ta'liq calligraphy" and "Persian calligraphy" taught by the famous Iranian calligrapher Ali Asghar Nazari.

She was a featured artist in a number of Syrian and Arab worldwide shows. Kubtan is director of the House of Arabic Calligraphy and Syrian Arts Association, and the School of Calligraphy.

Club curator and artist Khalifa Al Shimi said: "When we examine her work and inventiveness, we see that she has a unique artistic and creative approach. This is particularly true given that she recognised her talent and experience at a young age and has been able to use her tools professionally to take us to the realm of classical Arabic "Muwashahat" and Omar Khayyam's quatrains.  As if we could feel the ancient poets' warmth and the scent of Andalusia in the air we breathe.”
