Sharjah 24: The central theme explored in the exhibition "Darfat Al Hikaya" by Emirati artist Salma Hamad Al Marri at the Arab Cultural Club in Sharjah revolves around the enduring presence of the Emirati people on their land throughout the ages.
The exhibition reflects a history with deep-rooted civilisation and a dynamic life marked by diligent work and constant movement. Through various exhibits such as architecture, artifacts, engravings, clothing, decoration, and nature, the artist captures the essence of the Emirates – a nation with a historical lineage dating back to ancient times.

The establishment of the modern and advanced state is portrayed not as a coincidence but as the fruit of generations of perseverance, patience, love, and generosity exhibited by our ancestors. The artist emphasises the importance of maintaining a strong connection with these ancestors as they represent the true core of our identity.

The personal exhibition of Salma Al Marri, a leading artist, conveys a profound message. During a session following the opening of the exhibition at the Arab Cultural Club in Sharjah, the artist conveyed her thoughts on the significance of the showcased works.

The event, attended by Ali Al Mughni, Vice Chairman of the Club's Board of Directors, and Abdulaziz Al Musallam, Chairperson of the Sharjah Institute for Heritage, gathered a diverse group of Emirati and Arab artists.

They came together to honour an artist who has played a pivotal role in the Emirates' artistic movement. These artists have developed a unique style that seeks to find a harmonious intersection between surrealism and realism.

Their works feature mythical figures engaging in direct dialogue with the cultural symbols and heritage of the Emirates, creating a captivating narrative.

Salma Al Marri, an Emirati artist born in Ras Al Khaimah, holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Cairo (1985). Alongside her roles as an art teacher and educational supervisor, Salma has curated numerous solo exhibitions.

Additionally, she has actively participated in various local and international group exhibitions and forums held in the United States, France, Greece, Japan, Egypt, Tunisia, Morocco, Iran, Yemen, Kuwait, and Qatar.
