Sharjah 24: The Sharjah Arab Cultural Club (SACC) hosted a reading of works by the renowned Egyptian author and dramatist Ahmed Abu Diab yesterday, Friday. Notably, Abu Diab won the first-ever Sharjah Award for Arab Creativity in 2019 for his outstanding collection of stories titled "Capturing Absence. The 2020 Cairo International Monodrama Festival also honoured him with its top award.
Moderator, author, and poet Hassan Al-Ra'i welcomed guests in the presence of Club Board Chairman Dr. Omar Abdul Aziz. Abu Diab's collection stands out for the way in which he uses storytelling to probe the mysterious depths of the human psyche.
Ahmed Abu Diab spent the evening reading from his collection, which explored the eternal struggles between optimism and pessimism, free will and determinism, and the consequences of both. This had a crucial role in creating a beautiful and moving depiction of life's difficulties.
