Within the framework of the “Distinguished Supporter of Volunteer Work Award,” private entities that have provided financial or knowledge support, or have developed policies supporting volunteer work projects and initiatives will be honoured. The importance of this recognition lies in focusing on social responsibility and effective contributions to promoting volunteer work.
Conditions for participation stipulate that support for volunteer work must have a positive impact on the success and continuity of volunteer work, and that it contribute to achieving the goals of volunteer programmes and opportunities. Participation in the award must also be for support provided to volunteer work during the year of participation, and must be consistent with principles of social responsibility. Support does not consist of providing direct charitable work such as charity and zakat, but rather support for volunteer programmes and opportunities.
The financial support includes financial support, cognitive support, or policy support. Financial support consists of providing financial support, in cash, in-kind, or through services, for a minimum of two volunteer programmes, in an amount of no less than 500,000 dirhams.
If the private institution chooses knowledge support, it is required to publish and develop knowledge related to volunteer work through literature, studies and research, with a minimum of one published author. If it chooses support with policies, it must contribute to developing supportive and effective policies to enable and organise volunteer work in institutions.
As for the “Best Volunteer Initiative Award,” it is given to private institutions that presented volunteer initiatives that contributed to solving societal problems, strengthened sustainable development programmes, and contributed to improving the standard of living and community development through effective participation in different fields.
This award requires that the private entity carries out volunteer work on its own initiative and not joins volunteer opportunities for another party, and that it also provide support and sponsorship for work or programmes available in the community.
Fatima Musa Al Belushi, Executive Director of SAVW said that private institutions include entities with profitable activities, whether commercial, professional or industrial, which are registered in the relevant local government records.
The Executive Director of the Award explained that the launch of this category comes in appreciation of the efforts made by these institutions in serving the community and promoting volunteer work and social responsibility.
The award stresses that participation is available to the private sector wishing to submit applications until January 15, 2024 on the website sva.shj.ae, by calling 0504676709, or via email
