SAVW's Board of Trustees discusses tasks of the Award

Sharjah 24: The Board of Trustees of the Sharjah Award for Voluntary Work (SAVW) discussed the different tasks and responsibilities of the Award; and approved the necessary arrangements and criteria for applying for the Award, in addition to emphasising the general requirements and policies for the 21st edition.
The board reviewed the reports within the agenda, the basic system of the award, and the nomination mechanisms in accordance with the new updated system, in addition to listening to the comments and suggestions of board members.

The board also approved nominations for the 21st edition of the award until December 31, 2023.

His Excellency Afaf Ibrahim Al Marri, Chairman of the Board of Trustees, chaired the meeting to determine the final arrangements for the launch of the updated edition by offering 11 awards and 11 categories for participation in the 21st session.

These awards and categories reflect diversity in supporting and appreciating volunteer efforts undertaken in society, which encourages more participation and innovation in the field of volunteer work.
The new awards and categories that were introduced in: Best Volunteer Opportunity Maker Award; It is granted to governmental and private institutions and volunteer teams that present a pioneering project for sustainable and inspiring volunteer opportunities in community service.

The Outstanding Supporter of Volunteer Work Award; It is granted to government agencies, civil society organisations, private companies, educational bodies, or individuals who provide financial or knowledge support or develop policies for volunteer work projects, initiatives, based on the principle of social responsibility.

As for the Best Volunteer Initiative Award, it is given to anyone who initiates voluntary work in serving the community, whether by contributing to its development or improving its standard of living. 
The award for the record number of volunteer hours is given to civil society organisations, volunteer groups, individuals, and families, it requires participation in it through the implementation of programmes and volunteer work with effort and time in the service of the community.

The University Student Award is given to university students across the Emirates who are distinguished by achieving the highest volunteer hours during an academic year that contributed to community service. 

The Volunteer Work Knight Award for the highest volunteer participation is given to school students in the Emirate of Sharjah who achieve the highest volunteer hours.

The Al Asala Award for Best Volunteer Participation is given to elderly people who participate or contribute to volunteer projects, by achieving the highest volunteer hours. 

The Hemma Award for the best volunteer participation is given to volunteers with disabilities who achieve the highest volunteer hours in various fields of volunteer work. 

The Best Non-Government Organisation Award is given to civil society organisations that excel in the volunteer and civil work provided to the community.

The Best Volunteer Team Award is given to volunteer teams that have performed distinguished contributions in volunteer work that have a positive impact on society. 

The Best Young Leader for Volunteer Teams Award is given to a young man who possesses leadership qualities, has a positive personality that inspires others, shows exceptional leadership in implementing volunteer projects, and is able to motivate his team to achieve excellence.

The award categories also include Government agencies, civil society organisations, private sector organisations, educational institutions, volunteer teams, individuals, families, the elderly, people with disabilities, university students, and school students.

Dr. Jassim Al Hammadi, Secretary General of the Award, confirmed that SAVW has a distinguished reputation and is keen to appreciate and motivate every individual or organisation that seeks to provide volunteer work that contributes to the advancement of societies. 

Dr. Jassim Al Hammadi added that Board of Trustees is also keen to implement the visions of the wise leadership in the field of appreciating volunteer efforts, and honouring veteran volunteer figures and institutions that have made influential contributions.

Dr. Jassim Al Hammadi expressed his happiness with the tasks and responsibilities achieved so far, noting the imminent announcement of the details of the award, marking the start of marketing and promotional campaigns and attracting the target groups to nominate for different categories to achieve the desired goals.

In the same context, Fatima Musa Al Belushi, Executive Director of SAVW, pointed out that the Award decided to update the Award, in light of its previous experiences, which extend to two decades since the Award was launched, which had a full and positive impact in enhancing the process of volunteer work.
