Sharjah 24: The Sharjah Award for Voluntary Work (SAVW) organised a workshop at the Zayed Educational Complex, with the aim of promoting the culture of volunteerism among children and encouraging them to participate positively in community service.
102 children from the complex participated in the workshop, from 10 to 11 October.

The workshop reflects SAVW commitment to promoting the values of volunteerism and community participation among the younger generation, and highlighting the ongoing efforts to motivate children to achieve positive change in society.

The workshop was held in an interactive manner, and was presented by Sheikha Al Sarkal, Coordinator of Participation and Community Awareness at SAVW, touching on many activities that help children understand the concept of volunteering and its importance in building society.

The workshop also included the distribution of materials and raising interactive questions, in addition to distributing a number of copies of the “Little Volunteer” magazine, as well as educational stories for children, in addition to SAVW issues that contain stories and articles that encourage children to participate in volunteer activities.

Fatima Musa Al Belushi, Executive Director of Sharjah Award for Voluntary Work, explained that the workshop comes in the context of the award’s ongoing efforts to raise awareness of the culture of volunteering among children and instill values from an early age, pointing out that the programmes targeting children include a series of activities, awareness workshops and initiatives.

Al Belushi added that SAVW is constantly seeking to enhance its activities targeting children within its programmes under the slogan “The Little Volunteer”, as an embodiment of the Emirate of Sharjah’s approach to instilling values in children and giving them a sound upbringing.

Fatima expressed her thanks and appreciation to SAVW partners from different entities concerned with children, such as schools, kindergartens, and other educational bodies.
