Sharjah24: Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Deputy Ruler of Sharjah and the Chairman of Sharjah Petroleum Council, was present on Thursday morning to witness the signing of an agreement. This agreement was signed between the Sharjah National Oil Corporation (SNOC) and the Sharjah Electricity, Water, and Gas Authority (SEWA). The purpose of this agreement is to collaborate on connecting and measuring electrical current from the Al Saja'a Solar Energy Complex in Sharjah.
Also in attendance at the signing ceremony held at the Oil Council Building were Sheikh Mohammed bin Ahmed bin Sultan Al Qasimi as Deputy Chairman of the Oil Council, Saeed Sultan Al Suwaidi, Chairman of SEWA, Hatem Al Mosa, the CEO of SNOC, and Abdullah Abdul Rahman Al Shamsi, Director-General of SEWA.
The agreement, signed by Hatem Al Mosa and Abdullah Abdul Rahman Al Shamsi, concerns the electricity generated by the Al Saja'a Solar Energy Station, owned by the SNOC, and its connection to the corporation's operations in the complex. It also involves integrating it into the grid of the Sharjah Electricity, Water, and Gas Authority.
Previously, the Sharjah National Oil Corporation had entered into a contract with Emerj, a company owned by Abu Dhabi Future Energy Company (Masdar) and the French electricity company, for the development of the largest solar energy station in Sharjah.

This agreement stands as one of the significant outcomes of the productive collaboration between the Sharjah Electricity, Water, and Gas Authority and the Sharjah National Oil Corporation. It represents their substantial efforts over more than a year to bring the corporation's solar energy initiative to fruition, with the aim of achieving carbon neutrality by 2032 and contributing to the United Arab Emirates' strategic initiative, especially the goal of achieving net-zero emissions by 2050.
In line with the agreement's terms, the electrical current generated by the solar energy station during daylight hours will be used to power the Al Saja'a Complex's operations. At the same time, any surplus solar energy will be sent to the main grid of the Sharjah Electricity, Water, and Gas Authority, which will supply the required electricity for the Al Saja'a Complex during nighttime hours.+
