The ceremony began with the UAE national anthem, followed by the recitation of verses from the Holy Quran. Then, Dr. Hamid Majoul Al Nuaimi, the University's Chancellor delivered a visual presentation, during which he reviewed the statistical data about the global rankings of the University of Sharjah. He stressed that the university aims to be among the top 200 universities internationally, while maintaining its position as the top university in the country by the year 2030.He also highlighted the University’s efforts in empowering future generations and implementing Emiratisation policies, adding that the University has witnessed in different areas several significant developments since its establishment.Hamid Majoul Al Nuaimi explained during his presentation that the University of Sharjah's focus on excellence in teaching and scientific research is aimed at serving the community, promoting entrepreneurship culture, developing administrative efficiency, and ensuring quality. He emphasized that the University of Sharjah will work vigorously to solidify its position in the fields of innovation, scientific research, and education.
In his presentation, Dr. Hamid Majoul Al Nuaimi stated that the University of Sharjah's emphasis on excellence in scientific research and education serves the community, encourages an entrepreneurial culture, and improves administrative effectiveness. He emphasised that the University of Sharjah will work vigorously to promote its position in the fields of innovation, scientific research, and education.
Al Nuaimi further emphasised that the University has designated a number of priority areas for scientific study, including energy, the environment, space science and technology, artificial intelligence, robotics, sustainable technology, biotechnology, and medical sciences. This strategic goal aims to stay up with the labour market and graduate students who actively participate in community service.
The President of the University of Sharjah and the audience watched a video presentation presented by Dr. Sonia Ben Jaafar, CEO of the Abdulla Al Ghurair Foundation, during which she shed light on the Foundation’s efforts in empowering youth in the Emirate of Sharjah, reviewing the initiatives in which more than 20,000 participants have participated since 2015. She has further praised the great support of the President of the University of Sharjah to enhance the initiatives undertaken by institutions in cooperation with the University of Sharjah.
Ben Jaafar stressed the Foundation’s commitment in providing appropriate opportunities for youth development, contributing to enhancing cooperation and achieving the common vision with the UOS.
Najla Al Midfa, CEO of the Sharjah Entrepreneurship Center (Sheraa) also delivered a speech, during which she discussed the founding story of Sheraa, dating back to 2016 under the leadership of Sheikha Bodour bint Sultan Al Qasimi. Sheraa's aim is to harness the talents within the University City of Sharjah, , turning job searchers into job creators by giving them the tools they need to launch their own enterprises. She highlighted the Centre’ achievements in different, ensuring to develop the emirate’s various sectors.
The CEO of the Sharjah Entrepreneurship Center reviewed various instances of businesses that help the sustainability sector, expressing her pride in the partnership with the University of Sharjah.
During the Conference, Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed bin Sultan Al Qasimi witnessed the signing of a memorandum of understanding between the University of Sharjah and the Abdulla Al Ghurair Foundation. The memorandum was signed by Dr. Hamid Majoul Al Nuaimi, the University's Chancellor, and Dr. Sonia Ben Jaafar, CEO of the Abdulla Al Ghurair Foundation.
According to the memorandum of understanding, the University of Sharjah will collaborate with the University of Waterloo to conduct a comprehensive assessment through several meetings involving all parties for the implementation and launch of an employment certification program at the Abdulla Al Ghurair Foundation. The two parties will also work together in the future to improve collaboration with academic institutions in the European Union in regards to the exchange of faculty and administrative personnel.
Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed bin Sultan Al Qasimi honoured the winners of the "Change Award" for the best strategic performance. The College of Pharmacy won in the category of medical and health sciences colleges, while the College of Computing and Informatics won in the category of non-medical colleges, in recognition of their outstanding performance, in line with the plans and strategies set by the University, as well as the excellence of their students. The President of the University of Sharjah also honoured highly-accomplished individuals and speakers during the main session of the conference.
