Sharjah 24: Sharjah Award for Voluntary Work (SAVW) successfully concluded the two-day institutional volunteering workshop, held in the city of Kalba, on the 25th and 26th of September. The workshop comes within the framework of the continuing efforts made by Sharjah Award to promote and develop volunteer work and enhance the culture of organising volunteer activities within institutions and volunteer teams.

28 volunteers representing 9 government and private agencies participated in the workshop, presented by Fatima Musa Al Belushi, Executive Director of Sharjah Award. Agencies included Fujairah Hospital, Kalba Ladies Club, the Ministry of Climate Change and Environment, the Department of Economic Development in Kalba.

The workshop included an in-depth discussion on the importance of effective management of volunteer work, and how to enhance social and economic development through volunteer performance and outcomes. The focus was also on the impact of institutional management of volunteer work on institutions and individuals and how to enhance integration between entities involved in investing in volunteer work as one of the most important tributaries of sustainable community development.

A set of practical skills were also presented, such as organisation, professional use of human resources. The workshop also included developing planning skills and mechanisms for calculating volunteer hours, in addition to discussing the latest developments in modern management of volunteer work in light of the disasters and humanitarian crises that countries around the world are facing.

At the conclusion of the workshop, the focus was on planning and organising volunteer activities effectively and mechanisms for attracting and retaining volunteers. 

Sharjah Award for Voluntary Work intends to organise such workshops periodically in differentt regions of the Emirate of Sharjah, with the aim of enhancing the understanding and management of volunteer work in an institutional and effective manner.
