Sharjah 24: The Wadi Al Helo Trail Run, organised by the Sharjah Sports Council (SSC), on October 22, in front of the Wadi Al Helo archaeological site, comes as part of its plan for community sports activities and events that motivate different ages, groups, and nationalities to practice sports and make it a way of life.
The event is held in cooperation and coordination with a number of institutions and entities. It includes races for 10km, 5km, and 1.5km, for citizens and the general public. It is expected that 200 athletes of both sexes will participate, by registering via the link (www.eevents.ae/whtrun).
Yasser Omar Al Dokhi, Director of the Sports and Community Events Department, stated that the success of the previous two editions led to the organisation of the third edition, after it left its beautiful mark on the event with the region’s tourist and heritage attractions and stunning natural landscapes.
Al Dokhi said that the event promotes the culture of sports as a way of life, for all the people of the UAE and all members of society.
Yasser Omar Al Dokhi shed light on the details of the event by saying that the 10km race will start at 6:25 am, and after five minutes, the 5km race will start, then the 1.5km race at 6:33 am. First place winners, in the different categories, will be honoured at 7:48 am
Al Dokhi invited everyone to register and participate in the event, in which each participant at the finish line will receive a commemorative medal designed for the race in the shape of a square with the historic Wadi Al Helo archeological site in the middle, to reflect Sharjah’s cultural identity with the year, the name of the Emirate, and the name of the race, in Arabic and English, in addition to a gold, silver and bronze medals for the first three places with the same design. A total of 102 winners from different age groups.
Al Dokhi concluded that an experienced work team at SSC, in coordination with different bodies and institutions, worked to bring out the event in its best form.
