Sharjah 24: Sharjah Award for Voluntary Work organised an interactive training workshop for children with the participation of more than 20 children. The first workshop was held at the Al Heera Children Centre, and the second workshop was held in Sharjah Children Center – Al Qarayen, as part of a series of activities aimed at raising awareness of volunteer work importance and positive role in improving society.
The workshop was organised by Sheikha Al Serkal, Participant in Sharjah Award for Voluntary Work, interactively and innovatively to encourage children interaction.

The workshop included a detailed explanation of the concept and importance of volunteer work and the role played by the young volunteer, in addition to presenting examples of volunteer ideas that children can implement, such as participating in environmental volunteer opportunities such as beach cleaning campaigns and others, as well as encouraging children to think creatively.

The interactive workshop also included a practical workshop for recycling plastic water bottles, and teaching children how to turn these bottles into a basket containing food for birds, in an innovative way that contributes to protecting the environment and caring for wildlife.

Fatima Musa Al Balushi, Executive Director of Sharjah Award for Voluntary Work, said that such workshops reflect the commitment of the "Award" in cooperation with partners to promote the culture of volunteer work and instill its values in children.

She pointed out that Sharjah Award for Voluntary Work is exerting efforts to insill the values of volunteering in children's hearts from a young age, praising the importance of volunteer work and its role in refining the child's personality, social formation, and cognitive rehabilitation.

She noted that the "Award" targets children with a series of child-related programmes, the most prominent of which is the "Sustainable Volunteer Competition" initiative, "School Volunteering" and "Volunteer Stars" in addition to the Award's keenness to insill voluntary values among young people and children, through a number of different programmes that contribute to refining children's skills towards volunteer work. Children's programmes include awareness and educational programmes, workshops, lectures, educational publications, and stories directed to children.

Al Balushi concluded that such programmes would significantly educate students and occupy their free time with useful activities.
