In partnership with the Sharjah Volunteer Center, which operates under the Department of Social Services, the competition seeks to attract student volunteers and provide them with unique volunteering programs during their summer break from school or university.
The competition mechanism involves offering specialised volunteer programs exclusively for student participants. These programs will be proposed by government and private organisations with the aim of involving students in community service.
SAVW’s Executive Director, Fatima Musa Al Balushi, expressed appreciation for the collaborative efforts between the award and the Sharjah Volunteer Center. Their cooperation serves the common goal of promoting volunteer work and aligns with the visionary approach of the Emirate of Sharjah, which is committed to fostering a culture of philanthropic volunteering.
The Executive Director of the Award provided further details regarding the participation criteria for this competition. It is mandatory for participating entities to be official, registered organisations within the United Arab Emirates. They should aim to attract students from schools or universities, or both, to volunteer in the offered volunteer opportunity. Furthermore, the volunteer opportunity must be registered through the Sharjah Volunteer Center platform, with the primary objective of serving the community.
To encourage participation, Al Balushi encouraged interested parties to register their volunteer opportunities through the following link: https://sssd-volunteer.shj.ae. The registration period will be open from July 1st until the end of August 2023.
Expressing gratitude and admiration, Hessa Mohammed Al Hammadi, Director of the Sharjah Volunteer Center acknowledged the Sharjah Volunteer Award for launching the "Best Summer Volunteer Opportunity" competition exclusively designed for students. She praised the Award's esteemed reputation and its longstanding commitment to the field of volunteer work since its inception in 2001.
