The ceremony took place at the club’s headquarters just yesterday. It honored participants who stood out for their dedication to creating excellent conditions for their falcons during the moulting process, which typically occurs every year from March to the end of September. During moulting, birds shed their old feathers and grow new ones, and the quality of the new feathers is closely tied to how well their living space, known as the moulting room, is maintained.
To ensure that falcons are healthy during this critical period, their environment should be comfortable, with optimal humidity, temperature, and lighting. It’s also crucial to reduce stress for the birds and provide a nutritious diet that includes vitamins and nutrients. Regular health check-ups are recommended to ensure the falcons are in good condition, as unhealthy birds can struggle during moulting and may even threaten the health of other birds.
Rashid Khalifa Bakhit Al Ketbi claimed first place in the competition, followed by Tariq Obaid Hassan Al Zarif in second, and a tie for third between Hamad Bakhit Mohammed Al Hamoudi Al Ketbi and Hamad Mubarak Omair Ali Al Ketbi.
During the event, Abdulaziz Al Ali, Vice Chairman of the Sharjah Falconers Club, highlighted that the competition goes beyond just winners and losers; it serves as a platform for teaching and raising awareness about falcon care. He emphasized the importance of passing this knowledge on to younger generations, showcasing the falcon's significance in both health and performance.
The honorees expressed their pride in receiving these awards, seeing them as motivation to continue improving their moulting rooms and enhancing the care they provide for their falcons. For them, falconry is more than just a pastime; it represents a commitment to their heritage and a responsibility to share this tradition with future generations.
