Sharjah24: Strong matches witnessed the opening of the activities of the 24th Sharjah Championship for Government Bodies, Institutions and Departments for Football, which is organised by the Sharjah Government Employees Club in cooperation with Al-Thiqa Club for Handicapped and under the supervision of the Sharjah Sports Council, with the participation of 16 teams representing government departments and institutions in Sharjah.
The opening match witnessed the team of the Sharjah Department of Town Planning and Survey and the team of the Department of Islamic Affairs tied without goals, and in the second match of the group, the Sharjah Police General Command team achieved a deserved victory over the Sharjah Education Council, with a score of two goals to none.
Commenting on this, Dr Tariq Sultan bin Khadim, Chairman of the Executive Committee of the Sharjah Government Employees Club, confirmed that the activities organised by the Sharjah Employees Club, including football competitions, come from the directives of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, and the generous follow-up of Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Crown Prince, Deputy Ruler of Sharjah, and Chairman of the Executive Council, which aims to provide services to all Sharjah government employees, stressing the great success of the Sharjah employees’ championships, which bring together Sharjah employees through sports competitions in a brotherly atmosphere.
Adviser Humaid Ali Alabbar, Vice Chairman of the Executive Committee of the Sharjah Government Employees Club, confirmed that the football championship in its twenty-fourth edition is witnessing a distinguished participation from various teams.
Major Abdulrahman Al-Hammour, head of the Sports Committee, confirmed that the tournament this year is witnessing a strong competition between the participating teams, noting that the tournament’s organising committee was keen to provide all the precautionary measures to preserve the safety of all participants in the tournament, noting that all the laws and regulations of the Football Association will be applied.
