Sharjah24: The Sharjah Electricity, Water and Gas Authority (SEWA), in collaboration with the Arabic Language Protection Association (ALPA), staged the first performance of a play at Sharjah's Cultural Palace in order to educate students about the importance of environmental sustainability and to promote methods and behaviours for effective use of water and energy.
More than 630 students from eight different schools I watched the debut performance of the play, written by Sheikha Mariam Al Qasimi, and scripted by Samih Judah.
Rashid Al Marzouqi, Deputy Director of the Conservation Department at SEWA, said that this play dealt with important issues and proved the positive and effective role that theatre plays in interacting with initiatives and community issues by sending the right messages and ideas and encouraging positive attitudes toward them.
Moza bin Dakhin, who is in charge of the Conservation Department's Education and Awareness Unit, said that the government places a lot of importance on working with all bodies, institutions, departments, and authorities to educate different groups, raise awareness of important social issues, and teach families and children good values.
