The diploma and training programme were implemented by the Center for Continuing Education and Professional Development at the University of Sharjah (UOS).
The ceremony was attended by Ali Humaid Al Suwaidi, Chairman of the Sharjah Consultative Council, Dr. Hamid Majul Al Nuaimi, Chancellor of UOS, and Ahmed Al Mail, Director of the SSSD.
In his speech, the SSSD director stated that because of the department's interest in providing social services that contribute to improving the quality of life for the community, it had selected high-competence cadres within the field of social services, translating the directives of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, and his wife Sheikha Jawaher bint Mohammed Al Qasimi, President of the Supreme Council for Family Affairs.
Dr. Humaid Al Nuaimi addressed the importance of the diplomas and programmes that the Continuing Education Center worked on, as they will produce a new batch of UAE National diploma holders, noting that the "My Health, My Life" programme is the first of its kind as the first academic program for the elderly, a stepping stone to obtaining a diploma later.
Dr. Radi Al Zubaidi said that 22 participants joined "My Health My, Life" programme, ages ranging between 60-82 years, from various regions of Sharjah. The programmed was given following the hybrid education system to suit the elderly who live in remote areas. The programme aims to enhance awareness in the elderly community towards health issues and the dangers of neglecting their health, and how to avoid them.
Regarding the child protection diploma, Al Zubaidi indicated that its purpose is to provide the students with concepts and skills related to health, nutritional, legal, legislative, psychological and educational aspects of child health, and also aims to provide participants with basic knowledge and skills in various areas of child protection.
