Sharjah 24: Sharjah Electricity, Water and Gas Authority (SEWA) participated in the Gulf Forum for Electricity and Water Conservation 2025, hosted by the State of Kuwait, represented by the Ministry of Electricity, Water and Renewable Energy.
This participation was a proactive step towards enhancing communication and cooperation in the areas of conservation, sustainability, and energy efficiency, as well as exchanging practical experiences and learning from the experiences of the GCC countries.

Promoting sustainability

Rashid Al Marzouqi, Director of Media and Communication at SEWA, explained that the forum provided an opportunity for exchanging expertise and engaging in dialogue among representatives of relevant entities in the electricity and water sectors across the GCC. The aim was to promote sustainability and raise the level of innovation in several key areas, including policies, legislation, and performance indicators in energy and water efficiency and conservation; Gulf innovation, strategies, and entrepreneurship in water efficiency; awareness and corporate social responsibility in the electricity and water sectors; and the transition to a green economy to enhance Gulf sustainability.

Raising awareness

Reem Al Suwaidi, energy engineer at SEWA, pointed out that the Authority is one of the leading and pioneering entities in the field of rationalising electricity and water consumption and has a number of initiatives that have achieved positive and outstanding results in rationalising consumption in homes, gardens, sports clubs, mosques and various facilities. It also organises specialised programmes targeting all segments of society to raise awareness of the correct methods and behaviours for rationalising consumption. During the forum, ideas were exchanged and initiatives were discussed with the attendees and ways to develop them.
