The recreational trip benefiting 184 elderly persons from SSSD’s various branches covered visits to several tourist attractions in the city of Sharjah and it regions.
Abdul Rahman Al Darmaki, director of SSSD’s Kalba branch, head of the committee for internal and external trips for senior citizens, said that the department pays a lot of attention to senior citizens to integrate into society, allowing them to feel comfortable and psychologically and socially tranquil.
Al Darmaki added that the studies have shown that the elderly can contribute to economic development, as well as benefiting from the experiences they gained and pass them down to other generations. Building on this, the SSSD has launched a number of initiatives to serve this purpose including Sharjah Old People’s Home and other age-friendly institutions.
