UoS signs MoU with Fujairah Environment Authority

Sharjah 24: The University of Sharjah (UoS) and the Fujairah Environment Authority (FEA) have signed a memorandum of understanding, with the aim of cooperating in joint research projects and exchanging scientific knowledge.
The MoU was signed by Prof. Maamar Bettayeb, Vice Chancellor for Research and Graduate Studies, on behalf of the university, and Her Excellency Asilah Abdullah Al Mualla, Director-General of the Fujairah Environment Authority.

During the signing of the memorandum, Prof. Maamar Bettayeb welcomed attendees, stressing the university’s keenness to cooperate with local institutions, and encourage applied scientific research, which is within its current strategic plan to serve and develop the local society, by analysing community issues and conducting scientific research to find solutions and proposals.

He added that the UoS occupies a distinguished position in scientific research field, in terms of the number and quality of researches published in the international database “Scopus”, pointing that the university has the ability to work on research projects in various disciplines, due to its research infrastructure that supports scientific research.

For her part, Her Excellency Aseilah Abdullah Al Moalla, Director-General of the Fujairah Environment Authority, asserted that the UoS is one of its essential strategic partners, and this MoU consolidate the bond of joint cooperation between them. She also pointed that FEA is devoting teamwork in employing young people and researchers to serve the country in environmental fields, which will in return benefit the future generation, who will be aware of environmental issues, working to protect it.

Under the MoU, the two parties agreed to cooperate in joint scientific research by exchanging scientific information in fields of photovoltaic agriculture, sustainability, environment and applied sciences, training and enhancing technical capabilities, developing human resources in fields of research and innovation, organising and attending conferences, workshops and exhibitions of  joint research projects.

The signing of the memorandum was attended by Prof. Nouar Tabet, Dean of College of Sciences, Prof. Abdul Ghani Olabi, Director of Sustainable Energy and Power Systems Research Centre, Dr. Hussain Alawadhi, Director of Centre for Advanced Materials Research, Dr. Manar Abu Talib, Chair of Research Outreach Department, Prof. Abdul Hai Al-Alami, Sustainable and Renewable Energy Department, College of Engineering. In addition to attendees from Fujairah Environment Authority including Dr. Ali Al-Hammoudi, Head of Wadi Wurayah National Park, Eng. Mohammed  Ateeq, Head of Environmental Planning and Studies Section, Mr. Samiullah Majid, and Dr. Fouad Lamghari, Director of Fujairah Research Centre.
