SAASST at UoS explores cooperation with Ministry of Defense

Sharjah24: Within the framework of the keenness of the Sharjah Academy for Astronomy, Space Sciences and Technology at the University of Sharjah to develop its relations with local institutions, and exchange scientific experiences in the field of research, the academy hosted a delegation from the Ministry of Defense, with the aim of exploring its facilities and scientific laboratories, as well as the planetarium equipped with advanced technology.
The delegation was welcomed by Prof. Maamar Bettayeb, Vice Chancellor for Research and Graduate Studies, who stressed that the University of Sharjah has achieved great development  in various scientific and research fields over the past years, and the recent international ranking of universities confirmed its remarkable progress among regional and international universities, which highlights the ability of UoS to establish partnerships with all national and international bodies and institutions. 

For his part, Prof. Ilias Fernini, Deputy General Director for Research and Scientific Projects, pointed that the academy includes a number of research teams working in various fields of astronomy and space sciences, in addition to laboratories and research projects, through which the academy works on conducting and publishing scientific research and articles in international journals.

The visit program included a tour around the academy’s facilities and departments that simulates astronomy and the universe, where the delegation were briefed on the academy’s pioneering achievements in the region, and its future strategic plans and projects, in the presence of Prof. Ahmed Al-Shamma’a, Dean of the College of Engineering, Marwan Shwaiki, Deputy General Director for Planetarium and Space Exhibition, in addition to a number of research assistants, interns, and members of the delegation.
