Sharjah24: Zayed University, the UAE’s flagship higher education institute, has recently partnered with the Awqaf and Minors Affairs Foundation (AMAF), a Dubai government department responsible for the legal supervision over the Awqaf, its care and investment, as well as the well-being of minors, to activate a series of initiatives and programs focused on supporting students whose financial conditions may prevent them from continuing their higher education.
The agreement was signed by Her Excellency Noura bint Mohamed AlKaabi, Minister of Culture and Youth, President of Zayed University, and His Excellency Ali Al Mutawa, Secretary General of the Awqaf and Minors Affairs Foundation, in the University’s Dubai Campus in the presence of several members from both sides.

Both parties expressed collaborative eagerness towards supporting underprivileged students through financial aids to complete their education. Students will also get the chance to develop their leadership skills through training programs at AMAF, as well as land full-time employment opportunities post graduating, proportional with the specializations offered.

Her Excellency Noura Al Kaabi praised the ongoing efforts by the country’s wise leadership in supporting education: "Zayed University is always keen to find and activate the appropriate mechanisms and opportunities that support the student success process, which is an integral part of the nation's progress in various fields. Zayed University attaches great importance to leadership and excellence in educational innovation, research and student leadership development, which directly meets the aspirations of the wise leadership in preparing a new generation capable of participating in the country’s economic, social and cultural progress,” she said.

Her Excellency thanked AMAF for their endless support and efforts offered to enable students to continue their education, and to be able to play a vital role in the advancement of the nation across various fields. “We are committed to maintaining the highest quality levels and the highest professional standards in supporting and assisting students in their academic journey. Our students enjoy our full moral support in addition to our social and financial aid, to guarantee full engagement in the process of student self-development and advancing education in the UAE,” Alkaabi said.

For his part, His Excellency Ali Al-Mutawa, Secretary-General of the Awqaf and Minors’ Affairs Foundation, stressed that the partnership comes within the framework of the Foundation’s keenness to build strong bonds with various bodies and institutions capable of achieving a positive impact in the society, “Our objective aims to create a conscious academic generation, capable of participating in building, developing, and achieving the vision of the UAE’s wise leadership,” he said.

Al-Mutawa praised Zayed University’s efforts of enabling students to complete their academic journey with the best educational standards. He added, “AMAF manages 16 educational endowments, the proceeds of which are spent to provide financial support to students from underprivileged families, to pursue their education within 14 universities at the state level. Our scholarships include various academic specializations, which comes within Foundation's framework to build a comprehensive educational system that includes all members of society.”

Under this memorandum, Zayed University and the AMAF will cooperate in several joint projects, including accessing the academic content of the university's e-library, access to scientific and research publications. They both agreed to organizing joint-events and conferences, they also decided to create more students volunteering opportunities, and to hold practical training fairs and career fairs during the upcoming academic year.
