Sharjah24: The Cultural and Media Office of the Supreme Council for Family Affairs in Sharjah organised a workshop specialised in writing press releases for female students of the College of Mass Communication at Al Qasimia University (AQU) in Sharjah, in an effort to achieve the office’s goals by preparing a new generation of media professionals, and to achieve cooperation the University to train female and male students in the arts of journalistic work.
The workshop was presented by Mohamed Hejres, a journalist in Marami magazine, and dealt with several topics, including the news and its elements, the ethics of the press release, methods of drafting it, how to deal with sources, and how to verify information.

During the workshop, training was conducted on drafting headlines, drafting news for various media outlets, and how to deal with sources. The workshop also included a general idea of the rest of the arts of journalistic work, how to generate journalistic ideas, and the elements that make the subject capable of becoming press content.

The participating students expressed their happiness for attending the workshop, stressing the importance of such workshops to hone the skills of the students, develop their abilities in the arts of news writing, and put them on the right path towards journalism and ethical media that contribute to building society and push for the advancement of community awareness.
