Sharjah24: According to the Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings (2022), announced this morning, Thursday, Sept. 2, 2021, the latest international rankings of universities place the University of Sharjah (UOS) among the top 440 universities in the world. The results show that the University of Sharjah has joined the top 440 universities in the world, moving up by more than 200 places as compared to last year's results.
Announcing the results, Professor Hamid M.K. Al Naimiy, Chancellor of the University of Sharjah, said, “This achievement comes as the result of the continuous and increasing progress of the University at the international level over the past five years, owing to the support, guidance and vision of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan Bin Mohamed Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council, Ruler of Sharjah and President of the University of Sharjah.”
The Chancellor continued, stating that the detailed results of the ranking indicate the University has achieved remarkable progress, according to all of the performance indicators upon which Times Higher Education bases its rankings, considered among the most preeminent, professional and credible rankings in the world. Citations for research and studies conducted at the University of Sharjah were at the forefront of the performance indicators for which the University achieved remarkable progress, indicating the high quality and importance of research at UOS and the fact that its research constitutes a scientific reference for further research and studies internationally.
The results also demonstrate the increasingly prominent standing of the University of Sharjah internationally and its future global outlook, which are evident in the socio-cultural diversity of its students and faculty and its active participation at conferences, in addition to its prolific research publications in various conference proceedings, periodicals and journals internationally.
The ranking also cites the University of Sharjah as ranking third at the national level and 281 internationally for its research and study citations. It is important to note that UOS has progressed internationally by more than 500 places over the last four years as compared to 2018 when it ranked (801-1000) and 2021 when it ranked (601-800). The 2022 ranking places the University of Sharjah at (401-500) internationally.
