The Sharjah Documentation and Archives Authority (SDAA) employees received an intensive training during the course programme, presented by Professor Saeed Al Madawi, supervisor of the Islamic Manuscripts House, over a period of five successive days.
The training course is a part of the joint cooperation and agreement between the SDAA and AQU, aiming at training the Authority staff on the latest developments in documents’ restoration and preservation.
Professor Saeed Al Madawi, the supervisor of the Islamic Manuscripts House, briefed the participants in the course on a number of special principles in dealing with different types of documents, mechanisms of preserving documents, and creating the appropriate atmosphere to protect documents.
Professor Al Madawi presented a theoretical explanation and a practical training including the chemical treatment of collectibles, and modern scientific methods to restore manuscripts, in addition to addressing the art of binding and gilding, and introducing the Authority's employees to the field of microbial and insecticidal treatments of documents and preventive maintenance.
Al Madawi informed the participants about the means and methods of restoration in relation to the field of manual restoration and the automatic restoration of documents.
