Sharjah24: "Sharjah 24" explores, in an 11 episodes programme, the treasures of the House of Islamic Manuscripts at Al Qasimia University which were gifted by His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohamed Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, to the House, and their number exceeds 1500 manuscripts. The show will be aired on Monday and Thursday of every week.
“History tells that there were 6 copies of the Noble Qur’an written during the era of Uthman ibn Affan, and distributed to the regions in Egypt, the Levant, and Iraq, in addition to the copy in Medina which is currently in the Topkapi Palace Museum in Turkey.” A story told by Said ElMaadawy, Director of the House of Islamic Manuscripts, as he stood in front of a replica of the Qur’an attributed to Uthman.
Elmaadawy explained to "Sharjah 24" that His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohamed Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, ordered the copying of the original copy, located in Istanbul, for more than a thousand copies, and it was distributed to all scientific centers and manuscript centers around the world.
“Uthman Qur’an” steals the spotlight of the exhibition of the Manuscript House, written in the ancient Hijazi font which was used by the people of Mecca and Medina, on paper similar to the original leather in which the Qur’an was written on and of the same size.
The Director of the Manuscript House concludes by saying that this rare copy introduces Muslims around the world to the beginnings of writing the Noble Qur’an.
