Sharjah 24: The University of Sharjah (UoS) progressed according to the latest results announced by the Times Higher Education International University Rankings for the year 2021. The University advanced to the rank (658) globally, achieving progress by more than 100 ranks in the category (601-800) for the best university in the world. With these achievements, the University continues to affirm its position among the top three universities in the United Arab Emirates. His Excellency Prof. Hamid M.K. Al Naimiy, Chancellor of the University of Sharjah, announced these results.
His Excellency the University Chancellor explained that these results were based on several criteria, including the University’s global outlook, citations for research published in the most important specialized scientific journals, as well as the number of scientific publications per faculty members.
The Chancellor added that the University of Sharjah was ranked for the first time in five different scientific subjects: it ranked first at the level of the United Arab Emirates in the field of computer science subject area and its connection with other disciplines after it was ranked 401-500 in the world; it ranked as the second best university in the country in the field of medical and health sciences within the 251-300 ranks globally; and it also ranked second at the UAE level in the field of engineering and technology after it was ranked 401-500 globally. In the subject area of physical sciences, the University ranked second at the UAE level after its ranking in the 501-600 positions globally, and the third place in the field of business administration and economics sciences within the ranks of 401-500 globally.
The University of Sharjah continues to occupy the first place in the country as the most influential university complying to sustainability standards for the second year in a row after it was ranked in the 301-350 positions globally and in the third rank-cluster in the Arab world. This ranking is conducted by the Times Higher Education to assess the implementation of universities to the United Nations sustainability goals. With this achievement, the University of Sharjah re-affirms its position as the first in the United Arab Emirates in all sustainability rankings including the first position for the third year in a row since its participation in the global, "UI Green Metric", which ranks universities worldwide in the fields of sustainable development and their commitment to standards clean environment.
