Sharjah24: Mubarak Rashid Al Shamsi, Director of Al Hamriyah Municipality, said the municipality has asked all its employees to spend the day visiting their senior parents and grandparents, bringing gifts and checking on their health.

The municipality launched "Loyalty and Connection" for International Day of Senior Citizens, observed on 1 October each year. Employees from every department and section, supervised by Al Shamsi, delivered gifts prepared by the municipality to their senior relatives at home. They sat with them and conveyed messages of goodwill.

Al Shamsi said the day was about intergenerational contact and appreciation for what seniors have given.

Seniors welcome the visits

Seniors warmly welcomed their children and grandchildren and thanked them for their greetings. They praised the initiative, saying it had made them happy and deeply touched them.

Quality of life

Al Shamsi said the municipality invited its male and female employees to set the day aside to visit parents and grandparents, whether they live in the same house or nearby. He said the aim is to stay in touch with senior citizens, improve their quality of life and ensure they remain actively involved in community life.

He added that the initiative reflects the commitment of municipal teams to marking the occasion with social and developmental activities that bring joy to older people.
