The initiative included a visit to a residential care home for senior citizens, where Tatweer's members were accompanied by members of their families, underscoring the importance of family participation in community initiatives and encouraging dialogue and interaction between different generations. Participants also listened to the life stories and experiences of senior citizens, gaining valuable lessons, inspiring moments and cherished memories that reflected the authenticity of Emirati society and its deeply rooted values.

The initiative highlighted the importance of intergenerational dialogue as an effective means of passing on knowledge and experience while promoting the values of appreciation and gratitude. Participants and their family members discussed the lessons learned from the senior citizens' experiences, helping to deepen the initiative's impact within the family and reinforce shared humanitarian values.

The visit also featured friendly sessions that gave participants and their family members the opportunity to interact directly with the senior citizens. An interactive activity invited participants to write down the advice and words that had touched them most before sharing them with the rest of the group, creating an atmosphere of warmth, respect and meaningful communication across generations.

Khalid Ibrahim Al Nakhi, Director of Sharjah Capability Development (Tatweer), said: "Through the 'Ataa' initiative, we were keen for each member to take part alongside a family member because we believe the family is the primary partner in shaping individuals. Sharing meaningful human experiences within the family strengthens dialogue, reinforces family bonds and instils the values of giving and belonging. This initiative aligns with the objectives of the Year of the Family and reflects our belief in the importance of engaging with senior citizens and benefiting from their experience, which is a rich source of wisdom and life lessons that inspire younger generations and contribute to building a more cohesive society."

The initiative concluded by reaffirming that giving extends beyond offering assistance to include sharing time, care and attentive listening, helping to build a more connected and cohesive society while making intergenerational dialogue a lasting culture that strengthens national identity and shared human values.
