Sharjah 24: Sheikha Jawaher bint Abdullah Al Qasimi, Director General of Rubu’ Qarn Foundation and Director of the Sharjah International Film Festival for Children and Youth, stated that the closing ceremony of the festival’s 12th edition, hosted, on Sunday, at the Sharjah Research, Technology and Innovation Park, witnessed the honouring of winners, participants and supporters in recognition of their contributions to the success of this year’s programmes.

Six days of screenings and training

Sheikha Jawaher noted that the closing ceremony crowned six vibrant days of screenings and activities. The festival’s 12th edition featured a range of training programmes and film showcases designed to introduce students to the fundamentals of filmmaking and provide them with hands-on experience.

Honouring creativity and supporting emerging talents

In an exclusive statement to “Sharjah 24,” Sheikha Jawaher emphasised that the ceremony marked the culmination of the festival by celebrating the winners in various competition categories, acknowledging their creative vision and innovative works. She added that the festival also recognised the efforts of participants and supporters who contributed to the event’s success, reinforcing its role as a platform that promotes cinematic activity and nurtures emerging talents in the film industry.

Strong public and school engagement

The Director of the Sharjah International Film Festival for Children and Youth pointed out that the current edition attracted a wide audience of visitors, filmmakers and school students, reflecting growing confidence in the festival’s role in refining the skills of younger generations and enriching their visual appreciation.

Films to reach schools across the Emirate

Sheikha Jawaher concluded by revealing that selected films from this year’s edition will be screened next week at schools in Al Dhaid and Khorfakkan, broadening the reach of the festival’s content and furthering its educational and cultural mission.
