The initiative included field visits to different work locations, during which workers were provided with chilled water, juices, cold refreshments and ice cream to help reduce the effects of heat stress and create a greater sense of comfort and care. It also featured regular medical check-ups to monitor workers' health indicators and strengthen prevention against illness and heat-related fatigue resulting from working in hot weather.
The initiative reflects Al Hamriyah Municipality's approach to providing a safe and healthy working environment, while reinforcing a culture of caring for people as the cornerstone of sustainable development. It also recognises the vital role played by workers across various field sites and their continued efforts to maintain the sustainability and quality of municipal services.
His Excellency Mubarak Rashid Al Shamsi, Director of Al Hamriyah Municipality, said the 'Our Summer is Cool' initiative reflects the municipality's commitment to the humanitarian and social aspects of its work alongside its focus on service quality. He noted that field workers are key partners in achieving the daily accomplishments that are reflected in the level of services provided to the community.
He added that Al Hamriyah Municipality is committed to making care for its employees and workers a sustainable institutional approach, based on its firm belief that people are the true wealth of any organisation. He said the initiative was launched in appreciation of the significant efforts made by workers across various work sites and as a gesture of gratitude and recognition for their vital role in maintaining public facilities and ensuring the continuity of municipal services, particularly under weather conditions that require additional support and care.
Al Shamsi noted that the initiative helps raise awareness of the importance of preventing heat stress and encourages workers to follow health guidelines, helping to safeguard their wellbeing and enhance their readiness while carrying out their daily duties.
