UAE athletes claim three gold medals
The UAE’s three gold medals were earned by Abdulrahman Taher Al-Breiki in the Under 40kg division, Saeed Marwan Al-Qubaisi in the Under 52kg division, and Fahad Saud Al-Dhaheri in the Under 62kg division.
Silver medals were claimed by Saud Al-Baloushi (Under 44kg), Ahmed Al-Ketbi (Under 48kg), Ghayahib Al-Rashdi (Under 36kg), Mahra Badr Al-Azizi (Under 40kg), and Aya Mohammed Al-Baloushi (Under 57kg).
The bronze medal haul was secured by Salem Saif Khaled (Under 52kg), Khalfan Al-Qubaisi and Khaled Hamdan (both competing in Under 56kg), Mayed Ali Al-Shamsi (Under 69kg), Saud Juma Al-Karbi (Under 77kg), Meitha Al-Kaabi (Under 40kg), and Dana Asad Al-Naqbi (Under 63kg).
Federation praises athletes' performance
Mubarak Saleh Al-Menhali, Technical Director of the UAE Jiu-Jitsu Federation, stated that the opening-day results directly reflect the team’s continuous preparation and unwavering commitment to competing at the highest international levels. He commended the athletes' self-confidence, tactical execution, and capacity to perform under pressure against tough opponents, noting that the championship offers essential experience for cultivating young talent and shaping future generations of UAE jiu-jitsu champions.
Coaches highlight progress and preparation
Ibrahim Al-Hosani, coach of the UAE Under-16 National Team, observed that the athletes displayed clear progression throughout their matches and successfully executed their pre-determined technical game plans. He noted that the coaching staff will continue to analyze the matches to further strengthen the squad's capabilities, reinforcing positive elements while addressing areas that require development.
Medal winners celebrate achievements
Gold medalist Abdulrahman Taher Al-Breiki remarked that the high level of competition drove him to stay deeply focused and adhere to his coaches' instructions, adding that representing the UAE comes with a great sense of responsibility.
Silver medalist Aya Mohammed Al-Baloushi credited thorough preparation, personal confidence, and strong support from the coaching staff for helping her navigate challenging matchups and contribute to the nation's overall medal tally.
The championship is set to continue on Tuesday with the Under-18 division competitions, where the UAE team aims to expand on its opening-day success.
