The training brought together players of different levels, with the coaches focusing on practical exercises and key techniques while creating an enjoyable setting where participants could learn, compete and develop their abilities on the table.
Focus on technique and game awareness
The programme is part of the wider summer initiative supported by the Sharjah Sports Council, which aims to provide young people with useful and engaging activities during the school break while encouraging an active lifestyle.
Held at the club’s sports hall, the training sessions attracted participants from different age groups. Under the guidance of experienced coaches, players were introduced to the fundamentals of table tennis, such as the rules of the game, movement and positioning, control of the racket, reacting to fast shots and the use of attacking and defensive skills in play.
Teamwork and sportsmanship
The activities went beyond technical training, with friendly competitions organised among participants to create a spirit of healthy competition and strengthen the values of teamwork, discipline, and sportsmanship.
Officials overseeing the summer activities at Al Dhaid Sports Club said the table tennis sessions are part of a wider programme of workshops and sporting activities that the club is organising throughout the summer. The initiative aims to respond to participants’ interests, support their sporting and recreational needs, and identify promising table tennis talents to help nurture future players who can contribute to clubs and national teams.
