Sharjah 24: Representatives from the Sharjah International Marine Sports Club (SIMSC) have arrived in Morocco ahead of the 18th International Maritime Festival, which is set to begin in the coming days.

SIMSC’s participation is in line with the club's ongoing strategy to strengthen its international sporting presence and represent the United Arab Emirates on the global stage.

Team composition and sporting disciplines

The delegation includes 22 members, comprising 18 athletes along with technical and administrative staff responsible for logistical and tactical support throughout the competition. The team will compete in three marine disciplines—sailing, marine rescue, and rowing—following a rigorous multi-week training programme aimed at enhancing fitness levels and refining technical skills for peak performance.

Strategic goals and international experience

Delegation head His Excellency Ahmed Issa Al Hosani said participation in the event aligns with the club’s strategy to expand its global reach and provide athletes with valuable experience competing against elite international contenders. He noted that such exposure helps improve both technical abilities and mental resilience.

Confidence in performance and club legacy

Al Hosani added that the club prioritises participation in international championships and festivals that prepare athletes for higher levels of competition. He expressed full confidence that the team will deliver strong performances that reflect the high standards of UAE marine sports and uphold the Sharjah International Marine Sports Club’s distinguished record of achievements locally and internationally.

About the Maritime Festival

The 18th International Maritime Festival is regarded as one of the region’s leading annual marine sporting events, bringing together elite clubs and specialised teams from various countries to promote sporting excellence, cooperation, and cultural exchange.
