Sharjah 24: The Sharjah handball team arrived in Kuwait on Thursday to finalise preparations for their title defence at the Asian Handball Club Championship. Following the withdrawal of China’s ASHA club, the tournament format was revised, leaving seven teams in contention. The continental championship runs from June 6 to 15, with the eventual winner securing a spot in the prestigious IHF Men’s Super Globe in Egypt.

Tournament schedule and opponents

Sharjah officially launches their campaign on Friday with a high-stakes preliminary-round opener against Saudi Arabia’s Al-Khaleej. According to the schedule released by the Asian Handball Federation, Sharjah will then face Kuwait’s Burgan on Sunday, followed by a demanding stretch next week: Bahrain’s Al-Najma on June 10, Qatar’s Al-Duhail on June 11, Qatar’s Al-Arabi on June 12, and a final group clash against Kuwait SC on June 14.

Squad reinforcements for the Championship

To bolster their bid for back-to-back titles, Sharjah has significantly reinforced their squad with four key foreign signings. The new additions include Egyptian players Hisham Mohamed and Gamal Salah from Zamalek, alongside Tunisian duo Moaz Ayari and Mesbah Sanai.
