Sharjah 24: Sharjah Cultural Magazine published issue 117, in July 2026, featuring a distinguished collection of topics, articles, and dialogues on literature, art, thought, cinema, visual arts, theatre, and heritage.

Human dimension in poetry

The editorial, titled "The Human Dimension in Poetry," emphasised that poetry regains its original position, vitality, and vibrant colours, as well as its influence throughout history, especially when it is interwoven with human issues, the details of daily life, and strength. It becomes the truest mirror of the human spirit, suffering, and feelings, and the most attentive and receptive to human voices, laments, and fears. It transforms into an idea and a value emanating from the heart, freed from rigidity, to express with warm and profound emotion longings, dreams, memories, pains, and struggles.

Civilisational dialogue

As for the managing editor, Nawaf Younes, in his article "Acquaintance Before Civilisational Dialogue," he pointed out that acquaintance, and subsequently dialogue, is fundamentally based on mutual respect, without excluding the other, and acknowledging their existence and influence, despite the differences and variations. This stems from the understanding that the East is a civilisation and the West is a civilisation, and while they are distinct, they are not one civilisation. However, this does not lead us to adopt the idea of a clash of civilisations as it is presented in the West, because each possesses its own systems, identity, character, and human culture. The East and the West are indispensable partners on the path of convergence between human civilisations for the betterment of humanity.
