As well as recognising outstanding poetic achievement, the competition aims to inspire young writers to continue developing their work and pursue poetry with confidence.
The three winning entrants will each receive a cash prize of 3,000 Moroccan dirhams. Their poems will also be published in a collective anthology as part of the Ishraqat Shi'riyya (Poetic Inspirations) series.
The organisers have set out several conditions for applicants. Participants must be no older than 30 and may submit poems written in Classical Arabic, Moroccan zajal, Amazigh, or Hassani.
Each entrant may submit only one poem, and all entries must be original works that have not previously won prizes in any other competition.
Submissions should be sent in Microsoft Word format and accompanied by the participant's curriculum vitae, full postal address, telephone number, and email address.
Entrants must also include a signed declaration confirming that they own the copyright to the submitted poem and that it has not previously received an award, together with a copy of their national identity card and a recent passport-style photograph.
The winners will be announced and presented with their awards at the opening ceremony of the eighth Moroccan Poetry Festival in October.
