Sharjah24: Sharjah Maritime Academy (SMA) hosted a specialist discussion session on Tuesday, bringing together maritime sector officials, academy staff, and students to examine how resilience holds up under pressure and what it means for supply chains and maritime transport more broadly.

Readiness under the spotlight

Dr Hashem Al Zaabi, Director of SMA, said the session, held in partnership with the maritime sector at the academy's premises, looked at the industry's capacity to weather disruption and the role that flexible regulation and forward planning play in meeting those challenges head-on.

He told Sharjah24 the discussion covered several angles on sector readiness, alongside a look at how the UAE has worked to build resilience into its maritime industry through adaptable legislation and pre-emptive strategic planning.

Keeping supply chains moving

According to Al Zaabi, these efforts have helped keep maritime transport and supply chains running through various crises over the years, strengthening the sector's ability to adapt to shifting conditions and reinforcing the UAE's standing in the maritime field.
