Sharjah 24: Sharjah Roads and Transport Authority has announced the expansion of its “On-Demand Bus” service, originally launched in June 2025, as part of its efforts to build an integrated smart transport system that supports the objectives of the “Year of the Family”. The service provides flexible and safe mobility solutions in underserved areas, helping connect neighbourhoods, reduce congestion and shorten waiting times, while allowing users to track buses in real time through a smart application that improves operational efficiency and enhances customer experience.
The service has achieved strong operational results since its launch, completing around 2,664 trips and serving 2,758 passengers by the end of March 2026, with a 24% increase in users during the first quarter of the year. It is managed through the “Bus On Demand Sharjah” app, which enables easy booking and real-time route and arrival tracking based on data analytics that continuously improve performance and efficiency.

The service currently covers Muwaileh Commercial and Aljada, and has now expanded to University City, Al Juraina and Al Nouf, strengthening connectivity across key areas in the emirate. It targets all community segments, including employees and students, offering a flat fare of AED 8 with a 25% discount for accompanying passengers, encouraging it as a daily transport option.

In this context, Eng. Yousef Khamis Al Othmani, Chairman of the Authority, said the expansion reflects Sharjah’s vision for a smart, sustainable public transport system that supports family stability and daily mobility needs in line with the “Year of the Family”, while improving quality of life and social cohesion.

He added that the authority continues to adopt advanced technological solutions that enhance transport efficiency, ease traffic flow and provide a safe and comfortable travel experience.

Abdulaziz Mohammed Rashid Al Jarwan, Director of Transport Affairs at the Authority, said the service is a qualitative addition to Sharjah’s transport network, enabling access to areas not served by traditional bus routes and facilitating transfers to public transport stations.

He noted that the authority is committed to further development and expansion of the service based on customer needs and operational data analysis, while encouraging residents to use the smart application for convenient and reliable travel.
