Delegation members
The group from the Sharjah Women's Sports Foundation includes Hanan Al Mahmoud, Vice President, and Maryam Al Shehi, Sports Physiology Specialist at the Scientific Centre for Research and Sports Performance Development.
Research presentation
Al Shehi presented a study paper titled "Lower Limb Asymmetry and Its Impact on the Motor Performance of Female Athletes" at the conference, which looked at the relationship between muscle variance and change-of-direction ability. International scholars were particularly interested in the presentation's practical implications for training female athletes.
Conference sessions and knowledge-sharing
The delegation attended over twenty lectures and scientific presentations on topics such as improving physical performance, identifying talent, female-specific physiological studies, adolescent health and lifestyle, chronic disease prevention through physical activity, and promoting sport as a way of life.
Technical exhibits and innovations
The crew also visited the conference's technical display, where they examined cutting-edge devices and technologies for performance analysis, biometric monitoring, and sports recovery—tools critical for injury prevention and optimal training programs.
Collaboration with French universities
On the sidelines of the conference, the foundation met with partners from French universities with existing research collaborations—Université de Poitiers, Université de Saint-Étienne, and Université Bourgogne-Dijon—to discuss joint research projects and practical workshops that will support the foundation's scientific centre’s objectives.
Post-conference training
Following the conference, Maryam Al Shehi attended hands-on training sessions at Université de Poitiers, where she strengthened her skills in physiological analysis and performance evaluation as part of ongoing joint research.
Foundation’s statements
Hanan Al Mahmoud underlined that participation reflects the foundation's dedication to increasing Emirati women's international scientific presence as well as integrating research, training, and practical applications in women's sports. She went on: "Knowledge and experience exchange is key to achieving sustainable sports performance, and we are proud that the Sharjah Women's Sports Foundation is part of this global scientific movement."
Looking ahead
The foundation concluded its participation by reaffirming its commitment to continue attending the ACAPS International Conference for the second year in a row and reinforcing its commitment to advancing women's sports research and implementing modern training technologies for Emirati female athletes.
