Institution’s perspective

Commenting on the results, Abdullah Hatem, technical director of taekwondo at Sharjah Women’s Sports Clubs, described the UAE Open Championship as an important milestone for the start of the season. He highlighted the impressive achievement of the institution’s teams, which secured a total of 44 medals across the three clubs. He noted the significant points margin over the nearest competitors, reflecting the clear development in both the technical and mental levels of the players compared with previous seasons. The Sharjah Women’s Sports Club team was crowned with the first-place cups in both the Zahrat and juniors categories, while the Kalba Women’s Sports Club team earned the third-place cup in the Zahrat category and second-place in the juniors category, showing that progress extends across all the institution’s teams without exception. Abdullah Hatem emphasised that the players’ performance was outstanding in every aspect, from discipline to tactical readiness, reflecting the ongoing work within the preparation programmes. He added that the institution’s ambition goes beyond local championships, with steady steps towards achieving an Olympic-level presence worthy of the institution’s name and Emirati women’s sports.

Commitment to talent development

This success comes as a result of the advanced training and preparation programmes adopted by the institution across its sports, with carefully planned strategies to develop the technical and physical performance of the athletes and to expand the female talent base in various sports. The programmes reaffirm the institution’s commitment to nurturing Emirati female champions and producing a generation capable of competing at the highest local and international levels.
