Sharjah24: Hamid Mohammed Ibrahim has been elected president of the Sharjah Youth Shura Council, with Aisha Al Khayal appointed as vice president for the ninth parliamentary session (2025–2026). The session is organised by Sharjah Youth and Sajaya Young Ladies, under the “Serving society is leadership” initiative, reflecting their commitment to youth empowerment and participation in decision-making.

First procedural session

The announcement came during the first procedural session held at the Rubu’Qarn Life Skills Centre, where council members were selected, including the president, vice president, secretary, and council rapporteur, for young people aged 13 to 16.

Encouraging youth engagement

Abdul Hamid Al Yassi, Director of Youth Care at Sharjah Youth, welcomed council members and encouraged them to contribute actively, research thoroughly, and propose creative solutions to challenges facing young people, while respecting differing opinions in line with parliamentary principles.

Promoting collaboration and consultation

Al Yassi emphasised the importance of cooperation and collective decision-making, referencing the Quranic principle, “and consult them in affairs,” and highlighted the role of youth in shaping a sustainable future for the UAE and Sharjah.

Voting and results

Council members cast electronic votes for the president, vice president, secretary, and rapporteur after candidates presented their achievements and goals for the session. Hamid Mohammed Ibrahim was elected president, Aisha Al Khayal vice president, Saif Hilal Al Kindi as secretary, and Wadeema Khalid Al Naqbi as rapporteur.

Commitment to responsibility

The newly elected council expressed gratitude for their peers’ trust and pledged to work diligently, propose innovative solutions to youth and societal challenges, and represent young people to decision-makers.

Fostering leadership skills

The session reflects Sharjah Youth and Sajaya Young Ladies’ dedication to developing leadership and administrative skills in young people, aligning with the strategic vision of the Rubu’ Qarn Foundation to build and empower informed, influential future generations.
