Sharjah 24: The Ordinary General Assembly of the Arab Cycling Federation has elected the UAE’s candidate, Dr Yasser Al Doukhi, as President of the Federation for the 2024–2028 term.

The meeting was hosted in Sharjah with the participation of fifteen out of twenty General Assembly members. 

Transparent and competitive elections

The Assembly witnessed a distinguished electoral atmosphere marked by democratic competition and transparency. It was preceded by an extraordinary General Assembly, during which several important resolutions were ratified, aimed at supporting the Federation’s progress and developing its activities.

Vice presidents and women’s representation

The elections resulted in the victory of Abdulaziz Al Shahrani from Saudi Arabia and Mohamed Katem from Morocco as Vice Presidents, while Fatima Issa Al Ghanim from Qatar was elected Vice President representing women, in a step that reflects the Federation’s commitment to empowering women and strengthening their presence in cycling.

Board members

The Federation’s Board of Directors was also elected, comprising: Ahmed Jaber Abdel Meguid from Egypt, Khaled Koukouche from Syria, Jamal Abdul Latif Al Kuwari from Qatar, Dr Tarek Abdulaziz Al Khayyat from Jordan, Dr Nour Al Din Al Triki from Libya, and Mohamed Aidroos Al Aidroos from Yemen.

Recognition of UAE sport and leadership

The election of Dr Yasser Al Doukhi as President of the Arab Cycling Federation underscores the distinguished status that Emirati sport has attained on both the Arab and international stage.

It also reflects the great confidence in his competence and administrative expertise, qualities that qualify him to lead the Federation into a new phase of development and modernisation. This, in turn, will contribute to supporting Arab national federations and enhancing the presence of Arab cycling in continental and global arenas.
