Sharjah Cycling Team completes 100km tour, reaching Oman

Sharjah 24: The Sharjah Sports Club's cycling team recently embarked on an ambitious 100km ride that took them beyond the UAE's borders. The journey began at the club's headquarters in Al Hazana, proceeded to Al Taawun Club in Ras Al Khaimah, and then crossed into Oman via the Dara border crossing, concluding at Khasab Club in Oman's Musandam Governorate.

To enhance team’s training regimen

This international tour was designed to enhance the team's training regimen and expose riders to diverse geographical terrains. Musandam Governorate, renowned for its varied topography, mountainous landscape, and elevation, provided an ideal setting for this challenging ride, offering breathtaking scenery along the way.

Kings of Cycling

The "Kings of Cycling," as the team is affectionately known, received a warm welcome upon entering Oman. The reception committee included several high-ranking officials from Musandam:

- Abdul Rahman bin Ahmed Al Shehhi, Director of the Sports and Culture Department

- Abdullah bin Ahmed Al Mutawa Al Shehhi, Director of the Governor's Office

- Hamad bin Ibrahim Al Shehhi, Khasab Municipality Director

- Saif bin Ahmed Al Dhahouri, Director of Government Relations

Greet cyclists

Khasab Club's leadership also turned out in force to greet the cyclists:

- Youssef bin Mohammed Al Kumzari, Club President

- Khalid bin Mallah Al Shehhi, Secretary

- Faisal bin Mohammed Al Shehhi, Public Relations Officer

Great satisfaction

Salem Bushlaibi, the team's manager, expressed great satisfaction with the experience. He emphasised that the tour aimed to intensify training, introduce riders to new territories, and break the monotony of familiar training grounds. Bushlaibi noted that both players and staff praised the initiative.

Gratitude

He extended his gratitude to the president of Al Taawun Club in Ras Al Khaimah for his efforts in facilitating the tour. Bushlaibi also thanked the Omani hosts, including the leadership of Musandam Governorate and the officials of Khasab Sports Club, for their warm hospitality and reception of the Sharjah Sports Club delegation.

Strengthening sporting ties

This international cycling tour not only pushed the team's physical limits but also fostered goodwill and strengthened sporting ties between the UAE and Oman, showcasing the power of sports in building international relationships.
