UAE Basketball Association elects new board led by Al Fardan

Sharjah 24: The UAE Basketball Association's General Assembly convened at the Olympic Committee headquarters in Dubai to elect a new board of directors for the 2024–2028 electoral cycle. The session was held with a full quorum, as 18 member clubs were present.

Al Fardan elected president by acclamation

His Excellency Abdul Latif Al Fardan, representing Sharjah Club, was elected President of the Association unopposed. Ghalia Abdullah Al Mazmi, from the Sharjah Women’s Sports Foundation, also secured a board seat for the women’s section by acclamation.

Election supervision and process

The elections were overseen by Counselor Badr Hammadi, with Abdul Nasser Yousef Omran as his deputy, along with committee members Salem bin Ali, Tariq Saleh, and Khaled Ghabesh. Out of six candidates, five were to be elected.

Final election results

Mohammed Saleh (Al Hamriyah Club), Hamdan Saeed (Al Jazira Club), and Farid Al Quwani (Al Nasr Club) each received 18 votes—the highest.

Ibrahim Mohammed Abbas Hatawi (Shabab Al Ahli Club) earned 16 votes.

Ali Hassan Al Amiri (Al Bataeh Club) won with 13 votes.

Mansour Al Hashemi (Al Ain Club) received 7 votes and was not elected.
